TOXOPLASMA

Toxoplasma gondii is a zoonotic protozoan of the family Sarcocystidae.The definitive host is the cat, both wild and domestic, although it can be carried by many mammals and birds. Infection in humans is generally mild and self-limited, but can be serious in the immunocompromised and in the fetus whose mother becomes infected during pregnancy.
