LEISHMANIA

Canine leishmaniasis in found infrequently but often in clusters within North America, where it was first detected in 2000. Although transmitted to dogs (and other canids)  via sandfly bites, in the U.S. dog-to-dog transmission has been documented. Our IFA slides are prepared with promastigotes of a domestic strain of Leishmania infantum.
